The cat's meow

Didn't I give it all?
Tried my best,
Gave you everything I had,
Everything and no less,
Didn't I do it right?
Did I let you down?

-ADELE -- TAKE IT ALL

I am loving the cat eye & goggle glasses/sunglasses on the Spring 2011 runway  (Prada, Tom Ford, Norma Kamali, Dior, etc.)  Unfortunately I had myself convinced that square was the only shape that would work in sunglasses for my face.  I had a bad day today and I stopped in a Guess outlet to cheer myself up and I snagged these for $34.  What do you think?
Sunglasses - Guess $34
Grandma sweater - Winners $10
Basic T-shirt - H&M $6
Bag - Louis Vuitton

Runway & changes in my life

Changes in my life
I won't leave you behind
Changes in my life
You will see in time
Changes in my life
You're always on my mind
Changes in my life
I've got you by my side

There're so many changes in my life
I don't know if it's wrong or if it's right
And i want you, want you be my side
Everything is gonna be alright
- CHRIS LAKE -- CHANGES
On top of normal technical difficulties I encounter daily with my computer and camera (which are both top notch, Macbook Pro and Cannon Rebel) I have misplaced the cord that connects the two.  I am convinced there is some sort of technology gnome that comes and messes everything around on me.

NOW FOR SOME SOME BETTER NEWS...

I have a few options for a new job.  I could work at a bar as a bartender, which I enjoy a lot and the money is great.  I also have a few opportunities for becoming a stylist in a retail environment for less money.  I don't know what to do!  Any advice?

Since it will be a few days before I can take outfit pictures (I have LOTS in store for you), I am presenting you darlings with my favourite looks from
FASHION WEEK in Milan.
Italy is always my favourite!  There are some great looks from New York and London that I will post this week as well.  Paris is coming up and Toronto's fashion week is quite a joke but Dsquared2's line just came out in Milan so I had to showcase a little Canadian pride as well as some of my other favourite looks.  I can't wait for spring!  The leaves are a million colours around here so I hope to get some great photos soon.  Thanks for reading and stay tuned!

Black & floral

This is my hour, I'm never going to bed.
The sky is still black, but begs to be red.
I just put my book down, but it begs to be read
I'm not nod, I'm not napper, never rest my head.
Some days I feel I'm getting smaller and smaller,
But some nights, I seem to grow taller and taller.
And we keep shrinkin' and shrinkin' but this will not finish.
You're never nothing, if you didn't disappear.
Just when I discovered the meaning of life, they change it.
Just when I'm loving life, it seems to start raining.
I pulled the sail safe switch, sea sail and I'm into the stars.
I love the rain out my skies. The sky's now red, my eyes reflect jets.
Smiling at this blessing, this life is the best.

I came to this world with nothing
And I leave with nothing but love
Everything else is just borrowed

- EVERYTHING IS BORROWED - THE STREETS

My new job requires me to wear all black, but I never seem to run out of ideas on how to mix blouses and skirts I already own.  The serving pouch requires a belt so I mix and match those too!  All black can get really boring especially in the summer, this may have been my inspiration to purchase a few floral printed items recently.  Summer 2010 is swimming with flowers, and they are a great way to brighten up your wardrobe.  Here are some photos off the runway that really inspired many summer collections found in a store near you.

Some simple accessories.  The necklace is diamond and was a gift from my mother!  You can see my biggest harp in a couple of the photos.

Black lace skirt, Guess
Nude pumps, Zara
Nude bag, Steve Madden
Blouse, old from when I was 16 and worked at Starbucks!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Outfit - Las Vegas

I'm like a bird,
I only fly away...
I don't know where my home is,
I don't know where my heart is...
-- NELLY FURTADO

Ever since I was 5 or 6, I always wanted to go to Las Vegas.
When I turned 21, I lived the dream.
Instead of the glamourous place I was expecting, a lot of people were rude and no one seemed to know what recycling was. It seemed like a cesspool of overconsumption and excess waste. Anyways, I thought I'd post some outfit pics. There is definitely some GREAT shopping in Vegas.

Just a little shopping...

Stratosphere Hotel.  With my brother.  Michael Jackson impersonator with my step mom!
Dress, Spoof boutique downtown Toronto. Shoes, Calvin Klein.

Beatles Revolution Nightclub, Caesar's Palace, Stratosphere Hotel.
Skirt, American Apparel. White Top, H&M. Kneesocks, Calvin Klein. Jeans, Guess. Leather Jacket, Le Chateau. Purple Top, Aritzia.

It was an awesome trip, I did a lot of great shopping. Here is a close-up picture of the Calvin Klein shoes I bought. LOVE <3

I love Vegas and I'm totally going back for a weekend with some of my best girlfriends in June!

Alice in Wonderland Alternate Ending

Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast...

As promised, I shot an editorial style shoot as Alice in Wonderland.  The photos are taken in my back and front yard.  It is a beautiful weekend so I had to take advantage of it and get a high quality camera (borrowed).  I took a few more outfit pictures which I will post in the next few days!
I loved the costumes from the movie.  She kept changing and there were beautiful versions of pale blue dresses, and of course the gloves!!!  I kept waiting for her costume to change for the last scene in the white castle.  I felt she needed one more outfit to complete her costume sequence!!!  This is how her dress should have looked.

Dress:  Dolce and Gabbana
Headband:  DIY
Gloves:  Vintage (Nannas!)
Shoes:  Fergie
Pearl Necklace:  Gift

Fashion Week / Haute Couture

Fashion week almost everywhere has wrapped up, let's look at some of the highlights...
Everyone loves to oggle haute couture. Well, I do anyways. Just wanted to take this opportunity to remark on a particular moral that is often ignored in the fashion industry: the philosophy of modeling is that the designer wants the product to appear on the model as it would appear on a hanger. This means that skinny is not necessarily glamorous OFF the runway, or sexually appealing, but is necessary in order to depict the garments accurately. Now for some pictures!

Spring 2010
Dolce and Gabbana, Italy
Absolutely adore the two on the far left. The white tube top is feminine and delicate, and I love the way the neutrals work together. The boots are Western and fabulous, and the frills are prominent without being over-kill. The far right could do without the pants? I'd go with a light denim skinny jean to math the outfit.

Dolce and Gabbana Spring 2010
Italy
Black, white, and lace are all trade marks of Dolce and Gabbana. Flawless and simple. Strong shoulders without being too masculine. The femininity of the material really balances out the masculinity of the form.

Isabel Marant Spring 2010
Paris
This top is snow white and again the tie at the bottom right corner offsets the masculin shape. The shiny black mini is perfectly balanced with the loose armed, flowy top. The shoes are absolutely gorgeous.

Celine Spring 2010
Paris
This bright coloured dress has asymetrical centered design that is funky and 80's. The Western, frayed boots at a glance appear to clash but adds a more urban, funky feel to this otherwise chic, retro dress.

Burberry Fall 2009
Milan, Italy
Sophisticated and fabulous! Oversized sweaters and shirts are in, but usually not done together. I love the neutrals and the leggings and boots are the best part of the outfit.

Dsquared2, a CANADIAN design duo, Dean and Dan Caten, Fall 2009
Milan, Italy
Retro and glamorous, this outfit has so much going on including an urban Starbucks cup to add to the city feel. The metallic heels take the look from slouchy to pulled-together.
