Little mermaid

I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.
I do not think that they will sing to me.
I have seen them riding seaward on the waves
Combing the white hair of the waves blown back
When the wind blows the water white & black.
We have lingered in the chambers of the sea
By sea-girls wreathed in seaweed red & brown
Till human voices wake us, & we drown.
- Mermaids -- T.S. Elliot

When I was growing up, The Little Mermaid was always my favourite Disney movie.  I had strawberry blonde hair, was a fish in water and I also found the story horribly romantic.  Mermaid inspired fashion is going to be huge for 2012 so I thought I would share with you some inspirational photos as well as some runway looks!

Classic mermaid:
I loved the story by Hans Christian Andersen.  My favourite illustrations were by Charles Santore.  Here are some of them:

Urban mermaid:  A whimsical, Walt-Disney inspired dream come true.  Floor length glittering pieces, aquamarine, turquoise, pearls, sequins, and every shade of blue-- this season brings the ocean to wherever you are.

What do you think about the masks at Alexander McQueen?
Mint green is going to be a huge colour this spring.  I bought a bottle of nailpolish in that colour (similar to the Tiffany's box) a few months back and since I'm snowed in today (sigh) I'm going to go paint my nails and dream of spring and being a mermaid!

J'adore Paris

The train pulled into Paris like a rocket to the moon
The station's like a circus every face is a cartoon
Everybody's stoned on pride and drunk on cheap champagne
Tonight this joie de vivre sure don't live up to its name
And now all that I can say

I'd give this world to you
Every rock and every stone every masterpiece in Rome
And if you asked me to
I'd steel the Mona Lisa, tear it up in little pieces
And lay them at your feet
For all the world to see
But tonight I can't give you Paris
- PARIS -- FAITH HILL

Almost done showcasing my favourite looks from S/S 2011!  I have been very busy with school and my two jobs, one is a fashion job that I am loving!
I get to style people and mannequins with gorgeous clothing from CLUB MONACO.  A step in the right direction for my fashion career, but the bar is definitely better for my bankbook.
I wanted to thank everyone for their lovely comments on my last outfit post, I will be sure to do more soon!  I am trying to get more creative with my photography, I have tons of outfit ideas though.  STAY TUNED!

AND NOW FOR SOME LOOKS FROM PARIS, FRANCE

Elie Saab takes the award for best collection in my opinion.  Each look screams sheer elegance and absolute beauty.  This designer seems to just keep getting better every season and is quickly advancing to the top of my favourites list.  The collection features gorgeous neutrals in feminine silhouettes and simple, stunning accessories and detailing.

The Hermes line was full of black and neutral leather with equestrian details resembling everything from stirrups and whips to suspenders and waist corsets.  Hats, hotpants, and gloves are also featured in this collection.

Over at Balmain there were ripped tights, leather, sequins; a rocker chick's heaven.  Add beautiful structure and a dash of class and this line just stole my heart.

Alexis Mabille did its first ready to wear line, and the results are brilliant.  Elegent, chic looks combined with sheer, simple or shiny materials made stunning pieces that rocked the runway. Denim and neutrals were prominent on this runway.

Azzaro was full of cocktail dresses I would love to own.  They are simple but glamorous and I absolutely adore the colour palette and carefully planned details including scrunching and sequins.

And of course my classic favourites...

Dior
Season after season I have never been disappointed with a line from Christian Dior.
Spring 2011 is no exception.  This line has inspired me to use colour where I never would have before.  I demand you check out the rest of this collection!

Chanel
More leather, classic crochet and simple but stunning details and layering added to the collection of classic suits and timeless pieces.  Here are a few looks:

Designer I LOVE - Elie Saab

Clouds of sulfur in the air
Bombs are falling everywhere
It's heartbreak warfare
Once you want it to begin,
No one really ever wins
In heartbreak warfare

If you want more love,
why don't you say so?
If you want more love,
why don't you say so?

-- JOHN MAYER - HEARTBREAK WARFARE

Elie Saab is all that is feminine, modern, and elegant.
Its haute couture and ready-to-wear lines for spring 2010 mixes elements of minimalism and the classic structure, styling, and colours that I like.  (Mmmm... black anyone?)
It also reaches into the pattern and print pool, using colours and florals for their haute couture line to create delicate, beautiful pieces.  I am absolutely in love, and if you haven't seen it, you should!
Now that I am

DONE EXAMS AND CLASSES FOR THE SUMMER WOO HOOO!!!!!!!! ,

I can focus more attention on my blog.  I have been busy looking for a new car (my 2001 Nissan Sentra is at 217 000 km and I'm trading it in...) and most of my money will be tied up in my down payment.  So there goes my beautiful Cannon rebel I was hoping to have by now.  I'll start stacking tips at the bar again this weeknd and I should have it in no time, to get a great summer of outfit pictures!!!

Now for some Elie Saab. ;)

Ready To Wear:
All the tiny details, structuring, materials, and shapes are what makes this line so versatile and elegant!!!

Now, a girl can dream right... onto haute couture!  Really unfortunate to know I would have to save up for as long as I saved up for my car... to buy ONE of these dresses :(  One day!  I adore the neutral tones as well as light pastels, and the designs are simply stunning.
