When taking a trip to the beach, it is important to include the essentials that will keep you safe while having fun.

If you have fair skin like me, you need to take extra precautions when it comes to sun protection.

Don't forget about protecting your hair and lips as well!

UV protection is important - especially if you have freckles, light hair and eyes, and fair skin.

Here are my essentials for a trip to the beach!  I went to Wasaga on the weekend, a local tourist spot only 45 minutes from my house.  What are your beach essentials?

 Bikini, accessories, beach towel, cover-up

Beach bag and flip flops.  Old Navy flip flops cost $5 and last the whole season!

Sunscreen, tanning oil, and lip balm with SPF.  I LOVE Baby Lips by Maybelline, Banana Boat anything, and Neutrogena Ultra Sheer is super light and barely feels like sunscreen.  You can use this on your face no problem!

Face care!  I love BioTherm, I also use a hidden gem which is a Canadian all-natural product, a face cream from a brand by two girls in Toronto called Pretty Natural Organics.

Moisturizing is key for before and after sun exposure!  I love Body Butter from the Body Shop, I also use a lot of skin care by BioTherm and Victoria's Secret.  This Blueberry scented one was on sale for $5!

This is the best texturizing spray I have ever used but alas - I believe they have stopped making it.  As you can see I'm dangerously low so if anyone knows where I can find this please let me know!

Then you need a vehicle to take you to the beach...scenic route preferred.

Since I'm going to be launching my new website soon I thought I would take the time to tell you a little bit about myself with a photo sequence of an average day in my life.

Harpist:  I have been playing the harp since I was ten years old, and I just started teaching lessons to beginners of all ages.

Organized clutter: Basically explanation of my closet, bathroom, and regimen...

Retired bartender with ten years of hospitality experience under my belt.  I started as a host when I was 15, and I have maintained every position including server, manager, and promoter.

Publicist for a television show, Musically Yours, Deirdre Mallehe, which promotes local music talent from the Toronto area.  The show has an average of 30,000 viewers per week and airs on Rogers TV and COGECO Niagara, Burlington and Oakville.  The host is featured here with Theory Fleury and the VP of Warner Music Canada. 

Promotional Agent:  I am currently promoting Carlsberg and the EuroCup.

I work 9-5 downtown at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment as an Intern in the Communications department.  Home of the Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, the Air Canada Centre, Real Sports, and Toronto FC.

Country girl at heart who loves the beach, warm weather, animals and the outdoors.

Summer lovin'

Can not believe it is August already!  I am in love with the summer, it always makes me sad when it is down to the last month or so.  No time to waste!
Related news:  I am officially a beach bum!  I have been to every beach in the area (pretty much) and still no tan to brag about. 
I have met a lot of really cool people this summer and spent time with old friends too.
Campfires, beach, clubs, hikes, long walks, patios, shopping (there's a sweet outdoor mall around here called Don Mills), road trips, traveling... what are your favourite things to do in the summer?
