Spring trends

This season has definitely gone back to the 70s!  For years now, Fashionistas have been swarmed with leggings and slim fit pants, we recently had a brief love affair with Harlem pants (which are on their way out) and now it seems that anything goes - from flared to skinny and anything in between.  Keep it funky for the upcoming spring season!

I was blogging about the spring fashion shows back in the fall, but I thought since the weather is going to get warmer soon (here's hoping) I would share with you some of the trends I think will be HUGE this spring.

Trend # 1 - CUT OUTS
I saw this first at Versace and I am in love.  I just got an outfit shot with a top I recently bought with cut out shoulders, I will post the pictures this week.  Just a few photos from their runway as well as a gorgeous outfit from Yves Saint Laurent following the same trend.

 Versace

I am also in love with the shoes from this line!

Yves Saint Laurent

Trend # 2 - FLOWERS
How appropriate for spring!  Flowers are showing up everywhere on the runway from necklines, prints to headpieces and stand-out accessories.
 Yves Saint Laurent

Marc Jacobs

Trend # 3 - BRIGHTS & STRIPES
A la Sonia Rykiel, the runway is swarmed with bright, bold colours and stripes.

Even us simple girls love Haute Couture...

Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Spring 2011

This line by a long-time admired designer has me drooling over its sharp strong silhouettes, shapes, and lines.
The structure of these outfits are screaming powerful femininity.
Of course I am in love with the black and white colour palette.
The headpieces are going to be huge for spring as well.  Marc Jacobs has already started to make these popular with the use of flowers all over his spring ready-to-wear line.
If anything is in my price range it would be the sunglasses which are really nice as well.
I adore the chokers they pull together the outfits really well.
This whole line is extremely classy and inspirational.  Thanks to style.com for the pictures!  Check them out for more.

What a great shot!  He always knows how to have fun with his haute couture lines.  Thanks Jean-Paul!

Fashion Jam for charity

FASHION JAM 2010

This was the second annual Fashion Jam for charity and this year I had the wonderful chance to attend and help out with the event.  It showcased an array of local designers who are extremely talented, most of them are recent college graduates.  I met a lot of wonderful people and took a lot of great photos so without wasting any more time I will share them with you!  I took over 200 so here are a few of my favourites.  There will be more photos uploaded on the Facebook group if you wanted to check it out:

Model showing off for Media!  It was hard to get some of these pictures because lots of photographers were in my way.
Gorgeous models posing backstage!!!  Every single girl (and guy) was so sweet and great to work with!
Model down time, more cuties playing with props!  This was where the hair and make up was done too.
In these last two photos, we are going to play Where's Waldo except the Fashion version which is of course called Find the Fashion Faux-Pas.  FIND THE OUT OF PLACE PEOPLE IN THIS PHOTOGRAPH WHO ARE STANDING WHERE THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO.
This girl was one of my favourite models for sure and it was really making me angry that these annoying girls were standing where there weren't supposed to be people.
These girls positioned themselves awkwardly and here are a few more photographs they ruined. If anyone recognizes these girls be sure to yell at them for me, I almost did!
A little over-exposed, but I loved this model too.  She was amazing!  Photo once again ruined by annoying girls standing at the bar.
Model coming close to poking the girls in the face.  I would have stepped another foot to the right and "accidentally" got them!

And some details:
Sheer pants!  Lots of shine and shimmer on this runway.
Clothes on the rack backstage ready to be worn!
What do you think of this daring ensemble?  The headpieces in this line were wild!
The host, Deirdre Mallehe, and special guest Justin Rego from the Bachelorette!

My outfit:
Me with Justin Rego's girlfriend!
They are a gorgeous couple, I don't watch the Bachelorette but for any haters out there, he is definitely happy!
I am wearing:
Club Monaco dress (gift from my new work!)
Jessica Simpson heels
Juicy Couture necklace worn as anklet
Necklace custom made by Helena Haughey

All photos taken by me!  (Except the ones I am in)

Thanks to all the models and designers!
A special thanks to Danielle McAllister, Mila Starr and Sara Imrie for providing clothes for the host, and for being so hospitable!
